Not every model ages the same.

Three of Britain's most common small cars, by year. Bars above the line pass their MOT first time more often than the average car of the same age. Every report compares the car you're looking at in the same way.

How it works.

  1. 1

    Enter the car

A number plate, or an advert link from most UK car sites. If a site blocks us, paste the text.

  2. 2

    We cross-check it

DVSA MOT history, the DVLA record, DfT data, the advert and photos, and known faults for that model and engine.

  3. 3

    You decide

A clear verdict, a fair offer, red flags, and the questions to ask before you travel.

Free check, or paid history check?

Paid checks (£6–£20) tell you what's on the registers. We tell you what the car's record means and whether it's worth your time.

Before you pay a deposit, still buy one paid check for finance, theft and write-offs. They're coming to us as an optional Full check.

Questions.

Is it really free?

Yes. Checks are free with a free account, so your reports are saved. We may add an optional paid Full check later for register data.

Where does the data come from?

Official DVSA MOT history, the DVLA vehicle record and DfT licensing statistics, plus the advert and photos you give us and our model data for known faults and costs.

Do you check outstanding finance, theft and write-offs?

Not yet. Those registers are only available through licensed providers. We flag write-offs mentioned in the advert, and we tell you to run a paid check before you pay a deposit.

How accurate are the prices?

Values, offers and repair costs are estimates to help you negotiate, not formal valuations or quotes. Always compare with similar cars for sale.

Does it replace an inspection?

No. It tells you which cars are worth your time and what to look at. A good report doesn't replace seeing the car, a test drive or a mechanic's inspection.
